OUR MEMBERSHIP TYPES

Retail membership

Over 200 major retailers and brands are members of the BRC, with thousands of smaller retailers represented by our trade association members. Together, these businesses operate across all channels and categories and deliver over £350 billion of sales per year.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to retail and its customers and communities, today and in the future. We do this by influencing change and delivering value to our members. We care about investment and innovation, a thriving workforce and reducing the industry’s environmental impact.

As the voice of the industry, we use our expertise to influence government policy, develop exceptional retail leaders and provide insight and market intelligence through our communities and networks. Our work helps retailers trade competitively, ethically, legally, safely and sustainably.

  • The cost of joining as a Retail member is based on the size of your business and a rate card assessed on your UK turnover.

  • Membership is renewed annually, with no obligation to do so (although our retail membership renewal rate is over 95%)

  • Once a member, everyone in your business can join our network of communities and access valuable insights at no extra cost

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Joining the BRC as an Associate Member is one of the simplest ways for businesses supplying services to retailers to increase their knowledge of the UK Retail Industry, raise their profiles, share their thought leadership, and discuss the key issues affecting the industry.

  • There is a wealth of knowledge and insight up for grabs, for a modest annual investment of £5,800 + VAT.

  • Membership is at corporate level, meaning as many of your colleagues as you wish can take advantage of the benefits. This includes joining our role-specific Communities that focus on key retail functions like HR, CSR, Finance, Legal and more.

  • If your business needs to talk informedly to retailers – whether they are loyal customers or potential clients, joining BRC is a no-brainer!

Trade Association Membership

Trade Associations that represent retail businesses are welcome to join BRC, on the assumption that their aims and objectives align with our own.

  • Trade association membership cost is based upon how many members are represented.

  • Employees of the Trade Association enjoy the same membership benefits are employees of Retail Members

  • Regular calls just for Trade Associations ensure that we understand your policy objectives, and vice versa
